Our last night in the residence we had a Christmas party with all of the students. We all enjoyed one last meal together, and exchanged white elephant gifts. I enjoyed being able to introduce my lovely fiance to all of the friends that I made at the residence, whom everyone had heard so much about. It was a bitter sweet event, seeing as it was quite possibly the last time I will see most of the people I met there. I truly am grateful for the good friends that I made, hopefully I will be able to see some of them again someday. I also hope that they will remember that I was different, and that they were able to see me as a good example of gospel living and want to learn more about the things I believe in and hold so dearly to my heart. The next day after the Christmas party Camilia and I participated in a Portuguese Christmas tradition, eating roasted chestnuts. This time of year you can find roasted chestnuts on about any street corner. We were both a little bit hesitant to try them, but they ended up being pretty good. To get to the meat in the middle you had to peel the outside shell, and once you got to the meat the texture was smooth and warm. We both enjoyed our first chestnut experience, and will always remember it whenever we here that famous Christmas tune.
