Palacio de Belem-Palace of the President of Portugal

The Palacio de Belem is where the President of Portugal currently lives and used to be the royal residence. It is often times called the Palacio Cor de Rosa (pink palace) because it is pink, intriguing. I didn't get the chance to go inside because we went too late, but I will definitely go another time to be able to see the inside. An interesting story about the palace is that when the 1755 earthquake struck, the King Jose I set up tents in fear that another earth quake would come and used the palace as a hospital. Right in front of the palace is a grassy square with a large statue in the middle of it in remembrance of one of Portugal's Kings. Also shown is a picture of me with one of the guards that stands in front of the palace.
